The UK's leading hotel chain, Premier Inn, will welcome the first guests to its brand new £4m hotel in Orpington, Greater London on 6th August.

The opening has created 28 jobs with one team member being enrolled on the Apprenticeship Scheme and sixteen who were previously long-term unemployed. Seven team members recruited to the new hotel team are between the ages of 16-24.

The new 61-bedroom hotel is close to the Walnuts Shopping Centre in the centre of Orpington and forms part of a new retail development which also includes a 950-seater cinema. Guests at Premier Inn in Orpington are on the doorstep of history with Down House, the former home of world-famous scientist Charles Darwin just a short drive away.

Holly Flann, Operations Manager for Premier Inn Orpington, comments:

"I'm delighted to open the very latest Premier Inn hotel right here in Orpington. We are already getting closely involved with the community in our new home and arranging fundraising events to help raise £1,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. It's really positive to see sixteen employees recruited and every one of our team is excited to give guests the best stay possible in Orpington. "

All bedrooms will showcase the company's latest high-spec, modern design with a 40" flat screen TV, a luxury king-size Hypnos® bed, a choice of pillows, free WiFi and self-service check-in facilities. With Thyme, the British Bar & Grill, on site, guests can enjoy a delicious, unlimited breakfast from £8.99 for a choice of cooked and continental options or £6.99 for continental breakfast only. Kids can eat either breakfast option for free.*

With over 730 hotels nationwide, Premier Inn is the UK's largest hotel chain, at more locations than any other hotel chain in the UK with rooms starting at £35 for a family room for four. The opening of Premier Inn London Orpington is part of Premier Inn's expansion plans that will see the company extend its current number of bedrooms UK-wide to 85,000 by 2020.

Orpington 1st Executive Director, Sharon Baldwin, described the new hotel as a “fantastic facility” for the town.

“The board of directors of Orpington 1st are delighted to welcome manager Holly Flann and her team to the town and look forward to working with Premier Inn in the future,” she said.
