New Business Grant Schemes Open for Applications

Bromley Council has approved the second phase of the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) to support local businesses in recovery and growth following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Orpington businesses are encouraged to apply for the funding streams below. If eligible, businesses are able to apply for more than one grant.

CULTURAL GRANT SCHEME

Designed to support town centres through cultural activities. All types of cultural and creative organisations, of all sizes, are encouraged to apply for this grant, including self-employed artists and performers.

Applications are open for grants between £2000 and £20,000. The deadline for applying is 31 January 2022.

To be eligible for this grant:

• You must be a cultural, creative organisation or performer based in the London Borough of Bromley.

• Your planned ‘event’ will take place in a Bromley borough town centre between 1 November 2021 and 30 September 2022.

• Certain outcomes are fulfilled as a result of your event (refer to guidance)

• You have not breached COVID-19 regulations and received a prohibition notice.

• You have not exceeded COVID-19 business grants subsidy allowance

• You will be required to complete an application form and submit a 2000 word proposal detailing your event.

GRANT FOR OCCUPYING A VACANT UNIT

This business expansion scheme will provide grants to existing businesses to assist with the set up costs associated with occupying a vacant unit, helping a variety of businesses that will drive footfall, offer employment, and support the recovery of the local economy.

Applications are open for grants between £25,000 and £50,000. The deadline for applying is 31 December 2021, however grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and the funds are limited.

To be eligible for this grant:

• All types of businesses from any sector are eligible to apply

• Your proposed business expansion must be in the London Borough of Bromley.

• Certain outcomes are fulfilled as a result of your business expansion (refer to guidance)

• You have not breached COVID-19 regulations and received a prohibition notice.

• You have not exceeded COVID-19 business grants subsidy allowance

Business collaborations are permitted, but there must be one lead business contact nominated to administer the application.

You will be required to complete an application form and submit a 2000 word statement detailing your proposal.

BUSINESS START-UP DURING COVID SCHEME

This grant targets businesses that set up during the pandemic and were severely impacted by the restrictions on businesses during this time. For the purpose of this grant a start up business is defined as a business that started trading on or after the 1 January 2020.

All types of business start-ups that are based in the London Borough of Bromley are encouraged to apply for a one off grant of up to £10,000.

• You must be a business registered or trading in the London Borough of Bromley that started trading on, or after 1 January 2020.

• Your business has a turnover of less than £10 million p.a.

• You can demonstrate your business has been severely impacted by COVID restrictions either by demonstrating a 50 percent drop in income or by other means.

• You have not breached COVID-19 regulations and received a prohibition notice.

• You have not exceeded COVID-19 business grants subsidy allowance

You will be required to complete an application form and submit evidence that your business has been severely impacted by COVID restrictions. BUSINESS GROWTH SCHEME

Providing businesses with grants to assist with business growth, recognising that in many cases COVID has stifled growth that would have otherwise taken place.

All types of business types that are based in the London Borough of Bromley are encouraged to apply for a grant of between £5,000 and £25,000.

The final deadline for applying is 8 December 2021.

To be eligible for this grant:

• You must be a business registered or trading in the London Borough of Bromley.

• Certain outcomes are fulfilled as a result of your project (refer to guidance)

• You have not breached COVID-19 regulations and received a prohibition notice.

• You have not exceeded COVID-19 business grants subsidy allowance

• You will be required to complete an application form along with a 2000 word business proposal detailing your business growth project,
