During this unprecedented time, we think it's important to give back to those in need. That is why Premier Charity Solutions has recently completed their fundraiser and donation scheme to support those charities helping the vulnerable!
Throughout the months of April and May, Premier Charity Solutions created a donation scheme where 5% of all project management revenue would be collated and put towards raising money for those charities supporting the vulnerable during Covid-19! As well as this, Premier Charity Solutions created their own fundraiser for the team to collectively complete 1,500km in just 14 days! We are delighted to say that Premier Charity Solutions has raised a grand total of £2,400, which we’ll be splitting equally between three outstanding organisations!!
Our three chosen organisations and a bit about how they’re helping the vulnerable and how Covid-19 has affected them:
Action for Community Development – Serve a the lead organisation, in partnership with other members of Lewisham BAME Network (58 BAME lead organisations) in Lewisham we are providing: Freshly prepared hot African, Caribbean and Asian meals to older people twice a week about 200 registered so far. As well as, telephone befriending twice a week call to 38 frail elderly people mostly living alone. Weekly virtual wellbeing Group with 23 participant and increasing.
Age UK Croydon – They have been quick to adapt the way we are supporting older, vulnerable people using our Helpline to take calls from people who are worried or who have questions about the support available. They have set up a Food and Essentials Hub to deliver free food to those most in need, and they have set up a Companion Call Line to pair people with a telephone befriender to have a weekly friendly chat. Their main challenge is how we continue to connect with older people through using different technology, especially considering the older people may have social distancing for a long time to come.
Lambeth & Southwark Mind – Are an independent mental health charity in South London and are seeing a massive cut in income due to our fundraising events being cancelled and retail income suspended. They support people not just with mental health issues, but specifically the most excluded groups engaging with mental health services. They work with people suffering from Hearing Voices (who find it difficult to engage with video conferencing), people from the black community who regularly under-engage with regular services. They also run a Mental Health Information Line for south London residents, a completely free psychotherapy clinic, peer support groups for the most excluded and hard to reach members of society.
