Bromley Council has begun contacting businesses eligible for the government grants announced in response to coronavirus.

Bromley Council began the payment of grants on Monday 6th April. Grants should be paid to businesses within 10 working days of a request form being accurately completed, from 3rd April when LBB received funds from government.

Where the council holds a contact email, eligible businesses have been emailed. Letters were sent to other businesses on Monday 30th March.

For businesses in receipt of Small Business Rates Relief (SBRR) the government will provide grants of £10,000.

You will be eligible if:

2. In receipt of small business rate relief as of 11 March AND

3. You are a business that occupies property

For businesses in the retail, hospitality or leisure sector the government will provide a cash grant of up to £25,000 per property.

Businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of up to £15,000 may be eligible for a grant of £10,000.

Businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of over £15,000 and less than £51,000 may be eligible for a grant of £25,000.

You will be eligible if:

1. Your business is based in England

2. Your business is in the retail, hospitality and/or leisure sector

3. Properties that will benefit from the relief will be occupied properties that are wholly or mainly being used:

Businesses with a rateable value of £51,000 or over are not eligible for this scheme.

Businesses should complete the on-line form to confirm details (including your bank details). If you have responsibility for multiple business properties, please make a separate request for each individual property. Only one grant will be awarded per each individual property.

Hi Mel.

From the information we've been given, it may be worth waiting until after the 10th working day, and contacting them then if you have not received anything.

Best wishes.
