The Top Notch Sewing Centre is a new initiative which is currently Crowdfunding to raise funds to set up. We are looking to launch in April.
A new ethical Sewing Centre is looking to launch in Orpington after Easter this year. They plan is to stock eco-friendly fabrics and haberdashery for home sewers as well as holding socials and workshops. The "Top Notch Sewing Centre" will be a community hub where locals can learn to sew, as well as being able to hire the sewing machines. It will start as a home based business then move on to a shop hopefully next year.
A Crowdfunder page has been set up to raise funds for the launch, enabling sewing machines and stock to be purchased for clients to use. See https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/top-notch-sewing for more information. This will run until 30 March as part of the "Bring it 2020" competition to encourage women in business, and if enough funds are raised, then Crowdfinder and Natwest will match the amount! There are also prizes to be won for the best business idea with the most support. Hopefully the community will see this as a good initiative and get behind this new business.
There is already have a lot of interest in the free sewing social groups, however classes and workshops will start at the end of April.
Classes will be run by the company founder, Caroline, who has 20 years of experience in the fashion industry. Caroline specialises in pattern cutting and dressmaking, and is really excited by this new venture. See the Facebook and instagram pages at Top Notch Sewing Centre.
