It is estimated that in the year from April 2017 to March 2018, 17% of young people aged 10 to 15 in England were bullied in the previous 12 months in a way that made them frightened or upset.
Margate based charity, What’s Coming Out of the Box, use immersive experiences to deliver messages about making the world a better place. Thy applied to Kent Community Foundation for funding for a project to deliver workshops promoting kindness and highlighting the impact of violence and bullying. They were awarded £4,200 to deliver workshops to pupils at Drapers Mill school in Margate to give the children increased confidence, improved critical thinking and improved social skills.
Josephine McCartney, Chief Executive, Kent Community Foundation said, “Kent Community Foundation is delighted that the What’s Coming Out of the Box workshops have been so successful and during Anti- Bullying week, we are keen to hear from other Kent and Medway charities who need financial support for their initiatives to support those affected by bullying.”
The What’s Coming Out of the Box, Kent Community Foundation funded workshops, were so successful they are being rolled out in 2020 at schools and community centres across Thanet.
