Orpington 1st were delighted to host a visit from The Deputy Mayor of London for Business, Rajesh Agrawal, on 27th March.
The BID team led a tour around the town centre, discussing the work of Orpington 1st and meeting with a variety of local businesses across a range of sectors.
With a role to be a strong voice for Londonís business community, to protect jobs and encourage growth, the Deputy Mayor is keen to ensure that the capital remains the most open and attractive place to do business in the world.
A successful entrepreneur himself, Rajesh is particularly passionate about promoting entrepreneurship and creating opportunities for young people.
His visit included a tour of the training centre for apprentice electricians at JTLís headquarters, and a presentation on LSEC's new Aerospace and Technology College at Biggin Hill.
A round-table discussion with senior representatives provided local businesses with the opportunity to voice their views on a variety of topics ranging from Business Rates to Brexit, including the need for start up space for entrepreneurs, the transformation of high streets, the importance of the tech industry and the support available through the Growth Hub.
Rajesh was complimentary about the scale and diversity of business activity in the town centre and reiterated the important role that Business Improvement Districts play.
