The winner of the Orpington Photography Competition 2018 was announced on Saturday 1st September as the Orpington Photographic Society held their annual exhibition in Orpington Village Halls, in partnership with Orpington 1st.
A stunning collection of prints were on display, which members had taken from locations across the world. Guests were invited to enjoy the photographs for free, with a complimentary glass of prosecco.
Alongside the fine work of society members were selected entries from the Orpington Photography Competition, and shots from town centre events over the last year.
This year’s winner, as selected by the Orpington Photographic Society judging panel, was Adrian Rowley with his photo “A BeeR6 Garden” (pictured below).
Adrian was presented his prize of £100 cash by deputy Mayor of Bromley, Cllr. David Cartwright. Adrian’s shot will also take pride of place in the Orpington 1st 2019 Calendar. Orpington MP Jo Johnson was also in attendance and was keen to talk with entrants about their photographs.

The competition, now in its fourth year, invites entrants to submit photographs taken anywhere in Orpington, whether at an event, in town or a sunset over a local park.
Orpington 1st BID Manager Chris Travers, said, “We’ve had a brilliant response to this year’s competition and the standard has improved yet again. We’re delighted that so many residents are looking at their surroundings with such positivity and the range of entries we’ve received really shows what a great place Orpington is to live in.
We’d like to thank Cllr. David Cartwright and Jo Johnson MP for joining us in our celebration of the people and places of Orpington.”
The 2019 calendar will be available from Orpington library in November.
