In the latest addition of the City Hall Business Bulletin, Rajesh Agrawal gave the Mayor of London's view on Brexit and invites businesses to complete a survey on a no-deal scenario. Read the Deputy Mayor of London for Business's update below.
"With the possibility of a no-deal Brexit scenario growing, the first tranche of the Governmentís no-deal technical notices has brought home the chaos that crashing out of the EU in March 2019 would cause for London and the UK economy.
These notices show the cost, disruption and complication that businesses which trade with the EU would face in a disastrous no-deal scenario. While the Mayorís view is that the only responsible thing for the Government to do in the light of this information is immediately rule out a no-deal Brexit and pursue instead a deal that keeps the UK in the single market and customs union, Sadiq also believes it is important to ensure Londonís businesses start planning for the worst.
This is why City Hall has launched a survey to determine how prepared Londonís business community is for a no-deal scenario, and whether more advice and support is needed. This survey will also investigate London businessesí priorities for a new, post-Brexit national immigration policy.
I encourage you to respond and help inform our ongoing dialogue with Government on these issues."
