Children, Jo Johnson, families, staff, and many more filled the Oasis Community Hub to celebrate St Mary Cray Primary Academy’s excellence on Friday 17th November.

Adam Lowing, Head Teacher, said “It was fantastic to have hundreds of people having a great time whilst recognising the achievements of children and staff. It shows how many different groups and individuals support our school.”

St Mary Cray Primary has recently turned 3 years old as an academy. In September 2017 the school received its first Ofsted in which it received Outstanding for two judgements (Early Years and Leadership). Ofsted described “a school where pupils want to learn and where they are able to experience success.” The 2017 SATs results were records, with KS2 progress measures in the top 10% nationwide including the best reading results in Bromley. 25% of children last year were offered grammar school places. The school has also created the Oasis Community Hub, which provides free groups, programmes and activities for parents and young families.

Chris Pierce, Councillor for Cray Valley East, said "It was a genuine pleasure to share in the third anniversary of the academy, its journey and the highly impressive Ofsted judgement. There was a real buzz and pride about the event, reaffirming the academy at the heart of the local community and how well it is regarded. I look forward to continuing to support its 'outstanding' journey".

Rev Jane Winter shared “It was wonderful to see Oasis packed. The celebration shows how powerful it is bringing different facets of community life together sharing a passion. St Mary Cray Primary is demonstrating what true education is about, developing both the ability to learn through every experience and the potential in every person to be the best they can be for the benefit of all.”

St Mary Cray Primary Academy has open events on Friday 24th November and Tuesday 9th January where perspective parents are invited to come and learn more.
