Nando's has now officially opened its Walnuts Shopping Centre restaurant.
Following the completion of a £1 million fit out, the Afro-Portuguese restaurant opened its doors on Wednesday 6th December, creating 25 new jobs.
Orpington 1st Executive Director, Sharon Baldwin, said, "We are delighted to welcome Nando's to Orpington town centre. They are an exciting addition that complements the growing leisure offer."
The new restaurant includes a special commission from South African artist, Dion Cupido.
Cupido, whose list of clients include Beyoncé, spent six days in Orpington creating a stunning mural especially for the 94-seat restaurant using industrial inks and oil paints.
Keith Lloyd, Regional Managing Director said: "We can't wait to open the doors to our new Nando's in Orpington. We are privileged to have had Dion Cupido choose our restaurant walls to display his stunning work. The team is really looking forward to welcoming all the locals and visitors to feast on our food, as well as our art!"
Orpington MP Jo Johnson visited the new store and met with members of the restaurant’s new team including the General Manager, Danielle Coveney (pictured).
Jo said: ‘The number of new businesses that have opened in the centre of Orpington over the past 12 months is remarkable. With a new cinema, Premier Inn and now Nando’s, the centre has become a real destination for local people and that is only increasing footfall and business opportunities up and down the High Street.
This year, Nando's are getting into the festive spirit with a Christmas menu, including the Peri-Peri Burger (pictured). The burger will combine flame-grilled boneless chicken thigh and a chicken breast fillet, served on a roll filled with baby spinach and topped off with a seasonal Peri-Berry chutney.
