Sharon Baldwin – Executive Director Sharon has worked in Town Centre Management and business development for the past twelve years. She has worked in the private sector and for local authorities as a senior policy officer in economic development and regeneration. Sharon left school to work for Marks & Spencer PLC where she had a number of head office roles over a twenty-five year career including Head of Buying. Sharon has also been a business owner, design consultant and a retail consultant with both national and international clients. Most recently she has worked with the Association of Town Centre Managers as a special advisor to the recently developed Town Teams. Chris Travers – BID Manager Whilst studying for his BA (Hons) in Music, Chris ran an independent pub in Manchester. After graduating he took on an events management role with an emphasis on BID liaison. He became the Assistant BID Manager for the Bexleyheath Business Partnership in 2013. Chris joined Orpington 1st the following January, and in October 2016, he joined a select group of peers in gaining the Ceriticate in BID Management, the industry's only formal qualification. Martin Price – BID Chairman Martin has been the Centre Manager at the Walnuts Shopping Centre for six years – previously Centre Manager at Ashford (Park Mall) and Bexleyheath (Broadway Square). Prior to that, Martin served fifteen years in the armed forces. A keen golfer (handicap 10), Martin also enjoys getting out and about in his new touring caravan, a little cooking and the odd book when time permits. However with all the new developments there is very little time left!
David Warnes - BID Director Dave has been working in the further education sector for nearly 20 years. Starting his career at Richmond College teaching A-level Business before moving in to management roles in sport, IT, Business and Travel. For the last 10 years he has worked in a business development role at Richmond and then at East Surrey College. He started working at Bromley College as Commercial Director in December 2015 and is based at the Orpington campus, with responsibility for Apprenticeships and employer training. He is an avid film buff and keen swimmer.
Bill Perera – BID Director Bill has worked for McDonalds for 35 years holding many senior positions including Franchisee Consultant and Head of Operations, opening restaurants in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India. Bill is the owner/franchisee of 4 McDonald’s restaurants across Bexley, Bromley and Sevenoaks, gaining Orpington in 2006. He is proud to support all his local communities and is committed to contributing to each through a variety of economic, social and environmental initiatives. Originally from Sri Lanka, he still visits the country frequently and is a passionate supporter of the local orphanage. Bill is married with 3 children, and is a keen cricketer.
Neil Davies - BID Director Neil began his career in retail aged 16 and continued to work right through his University studies. He worked for a diverse range of retailers in duty/deputy manager roles before joining Sainsbury's in 2007. Neil became manager of Sainsbury's Orpington in 2015 and is excited to be part of the continued development of Orpington town centre.
Sia Bodbin – BID Director Sia first started working in Orpington in August 1984 as a trainee negotiator. Since then Sia has worked for many corporate firms and also established two independent firms of estate agents. In 2011, in partnership with his wife Sue, Sia has established Kenton Estate Agents in Orpington High Street and had recently expanded with a second office at Windsor Drive, Chelsfield. Sia and Sue have two daughters and have lived in the area their entire adult lives.
