From 16:00pm to 20:00pm
Start your Christmas countdown in Orpington town centre this Thursday, with the borough’s best festive event.
Thursday 16th November will see Orpington High Street transformed for the day as the town centre is illuminated for Orpington’s annual free-to-attend Christmas extravaganza.
Over recent years, Light Up Orpington, funded by the town centre’s businesses, has grown to be a key date in the borough’s events calendar and one which the whole town can be proud of. Attendance has grown each year with residents from across Orpington and beyond flocking to soak up the festive community spirit.
The high street will be pedestrianised from the Memorial roundabout to Homefield Rise providing a safe, car free area for families to enjoy a fun-packed evening (businesses are open as usual).
The main stage, situated on the high street at the foot of Knoll Rise, will host a fantastic line-up of live entertainment from 4pm, including the glorious Gwen and the Good Thing, who recently wowed crowds at Orpington 1st’s Foodie Friday.
A selection of gift and food stalls will complement the high street’s existing offer, alongside all your favourite fairground rides.
Meet Santa and his reindeer and join them as they lead the traditional Lantern Parade up to the main stage and join in the countdown to the eagerly anticipated fabulous firework finale!
The lights will be on for the duration of the evening.
The countdown to the fireworks will be at the main stage between 7pm and 7.30pm.
